Congratulations to Our Scholarship Recipient

We are proud to announce that Ms. Kimberly Fuentes, a Senior Cadet in the MJROTC program at Fremont High School in Los Angeles, has been selected as the recipient of our chapter's scholarship award. Kimberly has also been accepted to college and exemplifies the dedication and leadership we seek to honor with this scholarship. This award is presented in the name of OMP Marine Wilber White.

Montford Point Marines Los Angeles Chapter 8 Scholarship

The Montford Point Marines Los Angeles Chapter #8 is proud to support the next generation of leaders through its annual scholarship program. This initiative provides financial assistance to outstanding students from designated Los Angeles area high schools, fostering educational growth and honoring the legacy of the Montford Point Marines.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on merit, with submissions reviewed by a dedicated committee to ensure fairness and consistency. Funded by the chapter’s efforts, including proceeds from the annual Marine Corps Birthday celebration, this program reflects our commitment to education, leadership, and community service.

By empowering young minds, the scholarship program continues the tradition of excellence and resilience exemplified by the Montford Point Marines.

How to Apply for the Scholarship

1. Check Your Eligibility

  • You must be a student at one of the designated Los Angeles area high schools listed in the Scholarship Program guidelines.
  • Participation in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) is required.


2. Complete the Application

  • Fill out the scholarship application form with your personal details, academic achievements, and extracurricular activities.
  • Include the required documents, such as:
  • Academic transcripts.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • A personal essay, as specified in the application instructions.


3. Submit Your Application

  • Ensure your application and all supporting materials are submitted by the specified deadline.


4. Application Review

  • Your application will be reviewed by at least two Scholarship Committee members and the Committee Chairperson.
  • Only complete applications meeting the Scholarship Program’s guidelines will be considered.


5. Notification of Award

  • Selected recipients will be notified and provided with a certificate or letter of scholarship award.
  • Scholarship funds will be transferred directly to your college or university or issued via a registered bank check.


6. Important Dates

  • Application deadlines and award notification dates are announced annually by the Scholarship Committee.
